Features
The Easy Breezy Super Chunky Beanie features a subtle ribbed texture and a fold over brim. The ribbed texture is from working your HDC stitches in the back loop only. The beanie is worked as a rectangle in vertical rows then sewed up the create a tube, then cinched at the top! The bottom is then folded to create the brim. The brim is about 2-3″ tall but you can make it longer, shorter, or have no brim at all by simply adjusting your starting chain and how many stitches you work across.
Yarn
The Easy Breezy Super Chunky Beanie uses super bulky (6) weight yarn, which creates a super thick and cozy beanie! Thick yarn makes this pattern work up fast and also create a super warm beanie that’s perfect for cold, winter days! I used Lion Brand Yarn Wool Ease Thick & Quick in the color Fisherman but this yarn comes in a variety of beautiful colors. This yarn is a great choice for this project, as it’s affordable and since it’s a wool/acrylic blend, it makes for a comfortable and warm beanie! You can use any super bulky (6) weight yarn though! Some other great options are Lion Brand Yarn Hometown, Bernat Soft Chunky, or Loops and Threads Cozy Wool.

Did you know that I have a whole Easy Breezy Collection that consists of 6 patterns! Sizes
The instructions below include 8 sizes but you can adjust your Easy Breezy Super Chunky Beanie to be any size! To customize the length/height of the beanie, make your starting chain as long as you’d like. To adjust the width/circumference of your Easy Breezy Super Chunky Beanie, work any number of rows! Note that this beanie is quite stretchy so make it a bit smaller than the head so that it will fit snuggly without being too baggy.

Notes
- Pattern is split up between baby, child, and adult sizes. Instructions are for size small first, followed by the next size up in parenthesis.
- All sizes are written as a standard fit beanie with a 2”-3” fold over brim. You can adjust the size to any length you like by making your initial chain longer or shorter. You can adjust the width of the hat by working more or less rows.
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches throughout the whole pattern. At the end of each row, chain 1 and turn, work the first stitch into the last stitch from the previous row.
- The number in parenthesis at the end of each row represents the total number of stitches to be worked in each row.

A finished stitch has two loops when looking at it from above. The loop closest to you is the Front Loop and the one furthest away from you is the Back Loop. To work a HDC BLO, work a HDC as normal but work it in the back loop only.

Row 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook. HDC in each ST across. (18, 19, 20)
Rows 2-15 (18, 20): CH 1 and turn, HDC BLO in each ST across. (18, 19, 20)
Move onto closing and finishing

Row 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook. HDC in each ST across. (21, 22)
Rows 2-22 (23): CH 1 and turn, HDC BLO in each ST across. (21, 22)

Closing & Finishing
Fold hat in half. Working only in the front loops of the row you last worked and the beginning chain, SL ST in each ST from the bottom of the hat to the top. CH 1 and tie off yarn leaving a 20” tail. Weave tail end, in and out, around the top of the beanie. Pull tight to close up the top.
Secure with a few knots. Weave in ends, flip hat inside out, and fold up brim. Optional: add a pom pom to the top!
