Banana Crochet Pattern

Design Inspiration
This banana is the seventh pattern for the Pregnancy Progress Project! Measuring about 6.5″, it’s the same size as a baby at 20 weeks of pregnancy! Not only is this great for tracking your pregnancy, but these would make adorable kids or pet toys! I hope you enjoy this tutorial, now let’s get making!
Notes
- This pattern is worked in the round and is not joined at the end of each round. Use a stitch marker to keep proper count.
- Repeat instructions given between the asterisks (*) until the end of each round.
- The number given at the end of each round states the total number of stitches for that round.
- Final size is approximately 6.5″ tall
Supplies
- Medium (4) weight yarn in Yellow and Cream
- Hook: 4.00mm (G)
- Polyester Fiber Fill
- Yarn Needle
- Stitch Marker
- Scissors
- 2 10mm Safety Eyes (Optional)
- Black Crochet Thread (Optional)
Abbreviations (US Terms)

CH – Chain
SL ST – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet

(Staring with Yellow)
Magic Circle, CH 1
Round 1: SC x8 inside circle (8)
Round 2: SC in each ST around (8)
Round 3: *1 SC in 1st ST, 2 SC in next* (12)
Round 4: SC in each ST around (12)
Round 5: *1 SC in 1st 2 STs, 2 SC in next* (16)
Round 6: SC in each ST around (16)
Round 7: *1 SC in 1st 3 STs, 2 SC in next* (20)
Rounds 8-16: SC in each ST around (20)
Round 17: *(In FLO) SC in next 6 STs, CH 1, turn. (6)
(In both loops) SC across, CH 1, turn (6) SC2TOG, SC in next 2 STs, SC2TOG, CH 1, turn. (4) SC across, CH 1, turn. (4) SC2TOG x2, CH 1, turn. (2) SC across, CH 1, turn. (2) SC2TOG, CH 1, turn (1) SC, CH 1, turn. (1) SL ST down the peel, working 1 SL ST in each row down. SL ST in next ST of round 17.* Repeat 2 more times to create 3 total peels.
Round 17: Switch to Cream and SC in each ST around, working in the BLO (20)
Rounds 18-24: SC in each ST around (20)
Add eyes between rounds 19 & 20. With crochet thread, make a “V” shape centered between the eyes and 1 ST down for the smile.
Round 25: *1 SC in 1st 3 STs, SC2TOG in next* (16)
Round 26: SC in each ST around (16)
Round 27: *1 SC in 1st 2 STs, SC2TOG in next* (12)
Round 28: SC in each ST around (12)
Round 29: *SC in 1st ST, SC2TOG in next* (8)
Round 30: SC in each ST around (8)
Tie off leaving 6” tail. Weave tail through last 8 STs, pull tight and secure with a knot. Weave in ends.
