Crochet Leek Pattern

Design Inspiration
The leek is the 25th pattern for the Pregnancy Progress Project! A leek is approximately the same size as a baby at 38 weeks of pregnancy! Not only is this a cute addition for tracking your pregnancy, you can also use these as kids play food!
Notes
● This pattern is worked in the round, use a stitch marker to keep proper stitch count
● Repeat instructions given between asterisks (*) until the end of each row or until instructed
● The number in parenthesis at the end of each row states the total number of stitches to be worked in that row
● Final Size: 8″
Supplies
● Medium (4) Weight Yarn in White (25 yards), Light Green (10 yards), Dark Green (10 yards)
● Hook: 4.00 mm (G)
● Yarn Needle
● Scissors
● Fiber Fill Stuffing
● Optional: 2 9mm Black Safety Eyes & Black Crochet Thread
Abbreviations/Stitches (US Terms)
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
CH – Chain
SL ST – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip
SC – Single Crochet
SC2TOG – Single Crochet 2 Together
FLO – Front Loop Only
BLO – Back Loop Only
Pattern
Starting with White
Magic Circle, CH 1
Round 1: SC x7 inside circle (7)
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around (14)
Round 3: *1 SC in 1st ST, 2 SC in next* (21)
Rounds 4-18: SC in each ST around (21)
On the last ST of round 18 change to Light Green
Rounds 19-25: SC in each ST around (21)
On the last ST of round 25 change to Dark Green
Optional: Add eyes between rounds 17 & 18 and use the black crochet thread to create a “V” shape for the smile
Rounds 26-29: SC in each ST around (21)
Round 30: SC FLO in the next 6 STs, *CH 1 & turn. SC in each ST across* Repeat ** 7 more times. SC in each row down the left side of the leaf. SK the next ST. Repeat from the beginning 2 more times.
Stuff with Fiber Fil
Round 30: (now working in the BLO) *SC in next ST, SC2TOG* (14)
Round 31: SC2TOG x 7 (7)
Tie off yarn leaving a 6″ tail. Weave tail through last 7 STs. Secure with a few knots and weave in end.
