Design Inspiration

The swiss chard leaf is the 24th pattern for the Pregnancy Progress Project! Swiss Chard is approximately the same size as a baby at 37 weeks of pregnancy! Not only is this a cute addition for tracking your pregnancy, you can also use these as kids play food!

Notes

● Pattern is worked in rows. The CH 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch. The chains worked throughout each row ARE counted as stitches.
● Repeat instructions given between asterisks (*) until the end of each row or until instructed
● The number in parenthesis at the end of each row states the total number of stitches to be worked in that row
● Final Size: 8″ x 3.5″

Supplies

● Medium (4) Weight Yarn in Purple (4 yards) & Green (15 yards)
Hook: 4.00 mm (G)
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Abbreviations/Stitches (US Terms)

ST(s) – Stitch(es)
CH – Chain
SL ST – Slip Stitch
SK – Skip
SC – Single Crochet
SC3TOG – Single Crochet 3 Together

Pattern

Starting with Purple

CH 28

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook. SC in next 14 STs.

*CH 4, SC in 2nd CH from hook, SC in next 2 STs, SL ST in next ST, SC in next 3 STs* Repeat x2. (photos A & B)

Work another 3 SC in the last ST. Working on the other side of the leaf, SC in the next 2 STs. (photo C)

Repeat ** x3. SC in the last 12 STs. (86) (photo D)

Tie off purple yarn and weave in ends.

Attach green yarn to the 16th ST (photo E)
