Beach Daze Cover-Up Crochet Pattern
The Beach Daze Cover-Up is perfect for summer! It’s a crochet beach coverup/dress, that features a lacy fabric and beautiful drape! It’s made up of 2 panels that are worked vertically, sewn at the shoulder straps, and held together with side ties.

Inspiration
The Beach Daze Cover-Up was inspired by a photo I saw on Pinterest of a store bought cover-up. I fell in love with the style and I searched high and low on the internet to find a similar crochet pattern. Without any luck I decided to try and design my own!
This design took so much trial and error! I can’t even count how many times I had to frog and re make to get it just right. After months of trying I finally figured it out but then came the almost impossible task of writing different sizes. Because of the repeat pattern, it wasn’t as easy as just adding a few extra rows to each size. But thanks to my wonderful testing group, we were able to figure out how to make this comfortably fit each of them.
The Beach Daze Cover-Up is intended to fit comfortably around the hips and be more open on the sides of the chest and torso.
Yarn
For this design I chose to use Lion Brand Yarn Beautiful You, which is a CYC weight 2 yarn. Unfortunately Beautiful You had since been discontinued since I’ve released this pattern! I have not tried to remake it with any other yarn but here are some other yarn suggestions I think would work for this pattern: Lion Brand Yarn Oh Baby, WeCrochet Comfy Sport or Shine Sport, or Circulo Charme. You can also search yarnsub.com for other suitable substitutions!
Sizing
This pattern is written quite differently from any of my other patterns in order to offer some customization. The length of the cover-up from the waist down is totally up to you! You’ll need a measuring tape to figure out the length you’d like, then all you need to do is plug that into the equation below to figure out the number of stitches you need! Each size of this pattern was tested and each tester made their cover-up in a different length. I love how versatile this design is and how amazing it looks as a short, medium, and full length cover-up! Something to keep in mind when choosing your length, is the longer the cover-up, the heavier it will be. The pattern was written to make up for the stretch of a full length cover-up, so if you choose to make yours shorter you may need to add an extra inch or two to your measurement.

Note: This cover-up is quite stretchy. The sizes above are when the piece is relaxed and not stretched or blocked.
Finding your length
The Beach Daze Cover-Up consists of two identical panels that are worked in vertical rows. When both panels are complete, they are attached by the shoulder straps and ties are added to the sides. You can make this a closed, pull over by omitting the ties and sewing up the sides instead. If your straps are too long you can opt for tying them together instead of sewing them.
This cover-up is meant to be more fitted around the hips and open around the sides of the bust. If more coverage across the bust is desired, you can add an extra repeat of Rows: (small) 24-31, (medium & large) 26-33, (xl) 32-39, (2xl) 34-41. This repeat will add 2.5” to the center of each panel.
The length of this cover-up is totally customizable! To make it the perfect length for you, measure the length you’d like and fill out the equation below! Please note that the longer the cover-up, the heavier it will be and the more stretched down the drape will fall. The pattern was written to make up for that stretch for a full length cover-up, so if you are making a shorter cover-up, you may want to add an extra inch or two when making your measurement.
Start your measurement at your waist and down as long as you’d like. Fill that number in the ____ below and do the math! The value you come up with will be the number of stitches to be worked for Row 1. The number of stitches must be an odd number and a whole number, so round up or down to the closest odd number if needed.

Using the number you came up with, fill in all the blanks in the pattern. Rows will have a (+) and a specific number beside it. These rows have either an increase or decrease, so you will add that to the number you came up with to calculate the total stitch count for each row.
Example: I want my cover-up 36” from the waist down.
36 x 4.25=153

Finishing
SC across the top of the panel, working up and around the straps, and tie off at the last ST of row 1. Attach yarn at the bottom of the cover-up and SC across the bottom. Weave in ends.
Make 2nd panel and repeat the same instructions as above. When both panels are done continue below.
Lay one panel on top of the other with the right sides facing together. The right side will have Row 1 on the left and the last Row on the right. If your straps are too long or you want them adjustable, you can tie them together. If they are the length you like, SL ST the tops of the straps together. Weave in ends.
Adding ties
There will be a total of 4 ties on each panel. Add the top ties at the last ST of the first row and the last ST of the last row. Add bottom ties 6-8” below the top ties.
Attach yarn to designated ST, CH 30, tie off and weave in ends. Feel free to make your ties longer or shorter. For a closed cover-up, SL ST or whip stitch the sides closed.
