gauge

notes

  • The rounds that use the Berry ST are always worked on the ‘wrong side’ of the beanie so that the ST bumps out on the ‘right side’. The rounds that use only SC are worked on the ‘right side’. Be sure to turn your work before and after these rounds.
  • The body of the beanie is worked in joined rounds. At the end of each round join with a SL ST.
  • The CH at the beginning of each row/round, does not count as a ST.
  • For round 1 of the body, work 1 SC in the edge of each row of the band. You will have the same # of STs around, as rows you had for the band.
  • SC x# means to work 1 SC in that # of STs across.
  • To adjust the size of the beanie:
    • Width/Circumference: work a multiple of 4 rows for the band.
    • Height: work any number for the foundation chain of the band or repeat rounds 1 & 2 as many times until you reach your desired height.

Insert hook into next ST, yarn over and pull up a loop. Insert hook into the next ST, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through the 1st loop on your hook. Yarn over and insert your hook into the last ST, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook.

Single Crochet Back Loop Only (SC BLO)

When looking at the top of a stitch, you will see that there are 2 loops making a “V” shape. The loop closest to you is the front loop and the loop furthest away from you is the back loop. To make a SC BLO, work a single crochet into the back loop only. This will create a ridge/ribbing across the piece.

Single Crochet 2 Together (SC2TOG)

Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on your hook.
