Yarn

These heart shaped coasters are great stash buster because they use very little yarn! For mine, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton and was able to make 4 coasters out of one skein! That makes these a great make for craft markets and fairs, or if you need to whip up a quick gift!

Now, you may be wondering, do you have to use cotton yarn for your coasters? The short answer yes. Cotton yarn is recommended for many reasons! It’ll absorb any liquid from condensation, it won’t melt from the heat of a hot coffee mug, and it can easily be washed & dried in a machine! These are all important factors for coasters, as they’re going to (hopefully) be used often and they need to be durable!

So what cotton yarn should you use? I love Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton! It’s so soft and comes in a variety of amazing colors. But there are so many other great cotton yarns out there so use your favorite or whatever you have available to you!

Lily Sugar n’ Cream from Yarnpirations is a great choice. It’s a little on the rough side, but for a coaster that doesn’t really matter. I do also find that once you wash it a few times it does soften up.
