The Cuddle Bee is a big, squishy, ball that you can’t help but squeeze! This is a beginner friendly pattern that works up so quick with super bulky yarn! I used Bernat Blanket Yarn so this bee is so squishy and soft! Grab your hook and yarn and let’s make this bee-uty!

Notes

● The main body is worked in the round and joined at the end of each round. SL ST to the first SC of the previous round and chain 1. The chain 1 does not count as a stitch. Work the first SC into the last stitch as SL ST.
● Repeat instructions given between asterisks (*) until the end of each round
● The number in parenthesis at the end of each round states the total number of stitches for that round
● Final size is approximately 14” tall, 12” wide, and has a circumference of 36”.

Supplies

● Super Bulky (6) Weight Yarn (I used Bernat Blanket Yarn) in Yellow: approx. 170 yards, Black: approx. 20 yards, White: approx. 6 yards
● Medium (4) Weight Yarn in Black for mouth (approx. 6”)
● Hook: 8.00 mm (L)
● Polyester Fiber Fill for stuffing (approx. 12 oz)
● 2 12 mm Safety Eyes
● Yarn Needle and Scissors

Abbreviations (US Terms)

ST – Stitch
SL ST – Slip Stitch
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
SC2TOG –Single Crochet Two Together

Changing Color

On the final pull through of the last SC at the end of the round, drop your current color and pick up the next. Pull through with the new color and SL ST into the first SC of the previous round. Cut the previous color and tie to the tail end of the new color to secure.

Pattern

Wings (with White)

CH 3

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from the hook, SC in next (2)
Row 2: CH 1 and turn. 2 SC in each ST (4)
Rows 3-5: CH 1 and turn. SC in each ST (4)

CH 1 and SC in each row down the side, 2 SC in each the 2 STs across the bottom, and 1 SC in each row back up the other side. Tie off leaving 6” tail.

Make 2 and set aside.

Antennae (with Black)

CH 9

SC in 2nd CH from the hook and SC in each CH down (8)

Tie off leaving 6” tail.

Make 2 and set aside.

Main Body (start with Yellow)

Magic Circle, CH 1

Round 1: SC x8 inside of circle (8)
Round 2: 2 SC in each ST around (16)
Round 3: *SC in 1st ST, 2 SC in next* (24)
Round 4: *SC in 1st 2 STs, 2 SC in next* (32)
Round 5: *SC in 1st 3 STs, 2 SC in next* (40)
Round 6: *SC in 1st 4 STs, 2 SC in next* (48)
Round 7: *SC in 1st 5 STs, 2 SC in next* (56)
Round 8: *SC in 1st 6 STs, 2 SC in next* (64)
Round 9: *SC in 1st 7 STs, 2 SC in next* (72)
Round 10: *SC in 1st 8 STs, 2 SC in next* (80)
Rounds 11-16: Sc in each ST around (80)
Change to Black
Rounds 17-18: Sc in each ST around (80)
Change to Yellow
Rounds 19-20: Sc in each St around (80)
Rounds 21-28: Repeat Rounds 17-20 2 more times.

Round 29: *SC in 1st 8 STs, SC2TOG* (72)

Add eyes between rounds 14 & 15 about 6 STs apart. Add smile centered between eyes and 1 ST down. Attach the antennae on either side of the head on round 7. Attach the wings on the back on rounds 20-24.

Round 30: *SC in 1st 7 STs, SC2TOG* (64)
Round 31: *SC in 1st 6 STs, SC2TOG* (56)
Round 32: *SC in 1st 5 STs, SC2TOG* (48)
Round 33: *SC in 1st 4 STs, SC2TOG* (40)
Round 34: *SC in 1st 3 STs, SC2TOG* (32)

Stuff with Polyester Fiber Fil

Round 35: *SC in 1st 2 STs, SC2TOG* (24)
Round 36: *SC in 1st ST, SC2TOG* (16)
Round 37: SC2TOG x 8 (8)

SL ST into 1st SC of the previous round. Tie off yarn leaving 6” tail. Weave tail end through the final 8 STs. Pull tight and secure with a knot. Weave end into the bee.
