Avocuddler Mini Crochet Pattern

Avocuddler Mini crochet pattern by The Turtle Trunk

Who wants to avocuddle, AGAIN! It’s been almost one year since I designed the Avocuddler! If you haven’t seen it yet, I have the free pattern HERE on my blog! The original Avocuddler is a 23″ tall avocado pillow/stuffy! When I finished making the original I had a lot of yarn left over but not enough to make another of the same size. So I decided to make a MINI version! The Avocuddler Mini is about 16″ tall and works up super fast! It’s cuddly, squishy, and oh so loveable! The second I finished making it, my two year old daughter quickly snagged it away from me and hasn’t stopped hugging it since!

I use Bernat Blanket Yarn for these cuddlers because it is so soft and cozy! Also, since its a super bulky weight, the patterns work up in no time at all! There are so many different colors of Bernat Blanket Yarn to choose from. For this project I use GoGo Green, Lemon Lime, and Taupe. Check out the supply list down below where I’ve added links to where to find each of the colors!

This pattern is beginner friendly and uses basic crochet stitches. If you’re ready to get started, let’s grab our supplies and let’s get making! You can also find the ad-free, easy to print PDF version of this pattern on Etsy and Ravelry!

Tie off yarn leaving long 24″ tail. Place pit onto the front panel centered between rows 6 & 14. Use stitch markers to keep the pit in place and take your yarn needle and sew the pit onto the front panel. Be sure to stuff with fiber fill before sewing the pit up completely. When you reach the end, secure the yarn on the back with a few knots.

  • Hi there! So I’m working on making this pattern (and the big one, too), but the mini isn’t turning out at long as you said it should. I’ve made the front twice now, and it only measures to 12″. Is there possibly a step missing in the pattern? I’ve noticed in the big one that for a certain number of rows in the middle, you just crochet back and forth after hitting the longest length. But this pattern skips that. Is that what I’m missing? Thank you so much! Love love love the pattern and your creative mind for making it up!

    • Hi Aimee! I read through the pattern and it is correct, are you sure you worked all 24 rows? It also works back and forth working the same amount of stitches for 4 rows (8-11), if you wanted that part to be a little longer you could work a few more rows there. It could also be that your tension is a bit tighter than mine so yours just isn’t as tall. I know when I made this pillow vs the larger one, my tension was a bit looser on the small one. I hope this helps you!
